Bethel Baptist Church ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Bethel Baptist Church, Calamine St, Macclesfield SK11 7HU. For any question about this policy or your data, contact pastor@bethelmacclesfield.org.uk.

Information you give us

Contact Us and Plan a Visit forms

When you fill in the Contact Us or Plan a Visit form, we collect your name, email address, your message, and (on the Plan a Visit form) roughly when you're thinking of coming along. This is sent by email directly to a member of our team, usually the pastor — we do not store it in a database or a third-party form service. It exists only in that email inbox for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you and keep a record of the conversation, and is deleted when no longer needed.

Why we process this: your consent, given by submitting the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry.

Standing Order Confirmation form

This form collects your name, email, phone number, details of your standing order, and your Gift Aid preference. It's sent by email to our finance officer. Where you've asked us to claim Gift Aid, HMRC requires us to keep the relevant records for 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to; other correspondence is kept only as long as needed.

Why we process this: your consent, and our legal obligation to keep accurate Gift Aid records where you've asked us to claim it.

Donations via Stripe

Our donation buttons take you to Stripe, our payment processor, to complete your gift. We never see or store your card details — Stripe handles this in line with their own Privacy Policy. Depending on what you enter, we receive confirmation that a donation was made, and if provided, your name, email, and Gift Aid status, so we can thank you, issue a receipt, and (if applicable) claim Gift Aid correctly.

Why we process this: your consent, and our legal obligation to keep accurate financial and Gift Aid records.

Information collected automatically

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall visitor numbers and which pages are popular. It's cookieless and does not identify you personally, so no consent step is needed. See our Cookie Policy for details. We do not use any advertising tracking. Beyond this, the only automatic technical information is standard web server access logs, kept briefly by our hosting provider for security purposes (for example, to detect abuse), not for tracking individual visitors.

Third parties we use

  • Stripe — processes donations securely on our behalf.
  • Cloudflare — anonymous, cookieless visitor statistics. See our Cookie Policy.
  • Google Fonts, Google Maps, Google Calendar — used to display text, location, and event listings. See our Cookie Policy for details.
  • Netlify — hosts the editing tool our volunteers use to update this website.
  • WebHostMost — our web host, which delivers form submissions by email on our behalf.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information, where we're not required to keep it (for example, for Gift Aid records);
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where consent is our basis for processing.

To exercise any of these, contact pastor@bethelmacclesfield.org.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.

Children

This website itself does not knowingly collect information from children. Where a parent or guardian contacts us on behalf of a child (for example, about Sunday school or Bethel Bunnies), the same principles in this policy apply to that information.
