You are welcome

Two people greeting one another enthusiastically

The “You are welcome” project is planned to start at Bethel in September 2025. The project comprises the following six areas, and is led by our “Children and Families” worker Katherine Peters.

Benefact Trust
Much of this work has been made possible with a generous grant from Benefact Trust, for which the church is very grateful.

  1. Places of Welcome – We plan to start “Places of Welcome” where we will provide a warm space, food and hot drinks, especially for those who go without; a place for people to get to know each other and talk about the problems they face; a place where we can address the issues of loneliness and promote good mental health. A place where everyone will be listened to. A place for people to connect, belong and contribute. A place where we will offer prayer to anyone who requests it. A place where we will bring in various groups to talk about issues our community are facing.
  2. School Run Coffee Club – Research has shown that parents sometimes skip meals to give their children food. This club will be run to provide food for such people to give them a healthy start to the day.
  3. Sunday School Outside – The children were really inspired by our “Seasons of Creation” Sunday School series, and this has led us to think about starting “Sunday School Outside” For this we want to purchase a Gazebo, Garden Furniture, Plant Pots, Seeds, Bulbs, and Vegetables in order to use our outside garden area. We will incorporate studying Scriptures such as the Psalms whilst also exploring the wonders of Creation, growing vegetables, and using the children’s ideas to develop the garden further. The food we grow might be used in Places of Welcome.
  4. Bethel Neighbours – Loneliness is a big issue today (6% are often lonely in our area according to Cheshire East Council). We plan to run Bethel Neighbours to visit local people and build bridges into their lives.
  5. Stay and Play – will provide a summer holiday activity for parents who come to Bethel Bunnies (0 – 5 year olds) in the term time, but now can also bring along older siblings. We plan to help Parents who are often challenged in the summer holidays on how to keep their children occupied.
  6. Creche – As we now have babies coming to the service on a Sunday morning, we need to start a Creche.
