Whilst away on holiday, I had a very vivid dream in which I was looking on as numerous people were pouring into Bethel on a Sunday morning, all with one purpose, to meet with God. I was puzzled why this was happening and it was only at the end of the dream that I received the answer. It was because of the Presence of God at Bethel. God was powerfully present at Bethel and people came from near and far for that reason and that reason alone. This was a very satisfying dream deep within my being.
The disappointment was when I awoke and realised that it was only a dream. But the effects are still with me and it has increased the longing to see this become a reality. How do we get more of the Presence of God amongst us? I’m no expert, but I do know that Jesus taught:
… how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.
Luke 11:11-13
I do know the ones who may stand in His holy Presence are those …
… who have clean hands and a pure heart.
Psalm 24:3-4
Jesus tells the church even at Laodicea that He stands at the door knocking waiting for that church to open the door to Him. If anyone in the church will open the door to Him, He will come in and eat with that person and they with Him (Rev. 3:20). To date, never did the church of the time, experience so much of the Presence of God, the Presence of His Holy Spirit, as on the Day of Pentecost. What do we read of the precursor to that?
They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers … When the Day of Pentecost had … come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Acts 1:14; 2:1
Prayer and Unity! It’s where the Lord commands the blessing,
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil … It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows His blessing, even life for evermore.
Psalm 133:1-3
If I had to describe the “spiritual feeling” I had in this dream, it would be “the oil of the Holy Spirit”, “dew from heaven”, “the abundant blessing of God”. This is what all people need. So let’s keep on praying for so much more of His Presence amongst us, Amen.
