Welcome
“We, believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, are refugees in this world for our permanent home is above where the Lord abides in glory. We praise Him, the Author and Perfector of our faith, for His unfailing love and for so richly blessing us!”

Word
Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint
Proverbs 29:18
Those growing up in the 1960’s onwards started to see a transition in this nation. Yes, numerous homes all had Bibles, but many Bibles were gathering dust (like the 5 or so in our house). Even if Bibles were read people didn’t understand. People were bored with it and with Church. Parents no longer insisted that their children went to church.
“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land—not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. People will stagger …”
Amos 8:11-13
One thing that still amazes me is that for 10 years as a Christian I didn’t have a conviction that abortion was wrong. Then one day I was reading Psalm 139, a Psalm I had read numerous times before, and then I saw it, then I understood that it was very wrong and displeasing to God our Creator and the Sustainer of life:
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:13-16
I cannot say why the Spirit of God waited all that time to suddenly bring these words to me, to make them alive on the inside, to speak so deeply to me through them. Many explanations could be given along the lines of my heart being too calloused to receive them before this. Since then, (c. 1985) I have prayed consistently for the law to be changed and for the whole culture, attitude, thinking, of this nation to be Christianised regarding not only abortion but a whole host of other areas that are contrary to the word of God. I pray that the Lord will graciously pour out His Holy Spirit once more on this nation, leading to mass repentance and new life in Christ. Repentance is when a person has a revelation from the Lord, and is convicted by the Spirit that their behaviour is wrong in His sight, compelling them to change and turn from those ways to live Jesus’ way. Increasingly grieved by the state of his nation, Habakkuk came to the place where he prayed this prayer,
Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.
Habakkuk 3:2
Let this be our ongoing prayer for this nation, and the nations of the world, Amen!
Quote of the week
“To trust God in the light is nothing, but trust Him in the dark. That is faith”
C. H. Spurgeon
Verse of the week
In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness, I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.
Isaiah 54:8
Let’s Pray
Heavenly Father, revive us now, that Your people may rejoice in You! Show us Your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us Your salvation. Pour out Your Spirit upon us, that we might repent and turn to You; that our sins may be wiped out and that times of refreshing may come from above, in Jesus Name, Amen.
