Word

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:6

Sin is the big problem of the world. Sin is what separates us all from God. A person’s sin is that which will cause that person to miss out on spending eternity in heaven. So how do we deal with sin? We can’t but He can and He has!How has God dealt with sin, your sin and my sin? Through the sacrifice of His own Son through which grace has swamped sin:

Just as there were many who were appalled at Him—His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and His form marred beyond human likeness—He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him. He was despised and rejected by humankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces He was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open his mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth. By oppression and judgment He was taken away … He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people He was punished. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death, though He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer, and though the Lord makes His life an offering for sin .. After He has suffered, He will see the light of life and be satisfied; by His knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and He will bear their iniquities … because he poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Isaiah 52:14-53:12

God couldn’t do any more and all this is offered freely to everyone as a gift! So why do people refuse? A number of reasons can be given but we need only mention one:

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

2 Cor. 4:4

So, as others prayed for us to ‘see’ let’s keep on praying for unbelievers to see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, Amen!

Quote of the week

“Either sin is with you, lying on your shoulders, or it is lying on Christ, the Lamb of God. Now if it is lying on your back, you are lost; but if it is resting on Christ, you are free, and you will be saved. Now choose what you want.”

Martin Luther

Verse of the week

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

2 Cor. 4:6

Let’s Pray

Heavenly Father, help us by Your Spirit, to love You more than we love our sins, even those little secret sins, for which Jesus paid a terrible price, in His Name, Amen!
